What is culture, and how does it actually drive performance? 🌱
Culture gets talked about a lot, but one helpful way to think about it is as a system. Every system has inputs, processes and outputs. Organisational culture is no different.
The outputs we’re looking for show up at every level. For individuals, it might be job satisfaction, engagement and a genuine intention to stay. For teams, it can look like collaboration, innovation and better decision-making. At an organisational level, strong culture shows up in productivity, performance, customer satisfaction and, ultimately, the bottom line.
So how do we create the right culture? It starts with being deliberate about the inputs. Clear mission, vision and values. A leadership approach that’s consistent and human. HR strategies that support people to succeed. And reward and recognition systems that reinforce the behaviours you actually want to see.
When those inputs are aligned, culture becomes something you actively design, not something that just happens by accident. And when culture is working, performance tends to follow.
If you’re thinking about how culture is showing up in your organisation and want to be more intentional about it, DM me anytime. I’m always happy to talk it through. 😊
