When we look at employment relations obligations in isolation, we can easily slip into overly conservative, handbrake HR. The law absolutely matters, but so do timeframes, cost, customer impact, organisational continuity and values alignment. Leaders are holding all of that at once.

Great HR advice balances what the law says with the reality leaders are facing. It considers risk alongside urgency, impact and practicality. When we do that well, we become trusted partners, not blockers.
